Change is a real pain and unsettling for many people. Having worked for almost my entire career in the tech sector, I have been lucky enough to have lived in a constant world of change and learned to embrace it and love it.

Over my career, I have been fortunate to work with so many inspiring entrepreneurs who have built and led exceptional technology businesses. As I look at these people, one of the skills beyond the obvious ones like drive, intellect, and creativity is their ability to adapt and be fluid while retaining strong core values constantly. It’s this ability to be completely fluid in outlook and approach but also absolutely solid in their core values that help make their team and business great.

As we reach the end of our first year as EnableX Group, we have seen outstanding growth across Pragma, Candio and Techland. Our subscribers on our Pragma cloud UCaaS platform have grown by 32%. Candio has delivered another exceptional growth year with an increase of 37% in subscriber growth, and Techland has seen a significant increase in recurring revenues.

With these great numbers, it’s easy to look at the success and think that we need to keep to the same recipe. However, the market is changing, and end-user demands and the channel are changing.

To me, it is clear that what got us here won’t get us there. The fundamentals of our business, culture and approach will never change:

  • Total commitment to the channel
  • Building strong and rewarding relationships with our reseller partners and vendor partners
  • Having fun and creating a great place to work and develop careers

But how we do things and where we focus our energies is constantly changing.

We are investing more than ever in ensuring we are easy to do business with, and our processes are reseller centric and simple. Ericsson-LG is constantly evolving their platform to meet the needs of hybrid working and creating hyper customisable tools to support different market sectors and their needs. Ribbon continues to work closely with Microsoft and Zoom to ensure their technology supports smooth migrations and the evolution of enterprise voice infrastructure. Candio is constantly developing new services like Cybersecurity to ensure we help businesses with the challenges they are facing.

Finally, commercial innovation as we constantly seek to adapt our propositions to help resellers adjust to an As-a-Service world.

What triggered this blog is a Buddhist parable I read about a man and a raft. A man came to a river that he needed to cross and realised he needed a raft. He spent lots of time building an impressive raft from branches, twigs and leaves. It took significant effort and was a fine raft. When he got to the other side, he wanted to take the raft with him but realised it would slow him down and not help him on the next stage of his journey. The awareness to leave the raft behind, regardless of the effort it took to build it, ensured he could complete his journey.

So my question is, have you let go of the raft and anything else slowing you down so you can complete the next stage of your journey?

What got us here won’t necessarily get us there.
